One-on-One Tutoring in Centennial Park

Children who live around the park scatter in every direction, to Paddington, Woollahra, Moriah, or across Moore Park to the selective schools. A tutor has to know which system your child sits in. We teach on Martin Road, online, or at the Double Bay centre. Kindergarten to Year 12, the IB Diploma as well.

Tutoring in Centennial Park

Built around your child, not a worksheet pack.

Centennial Park is a small suburb, about 2,200 people wrapped around a large park. Children who live here scatter in every direction each morning. Paddington Public School is up Oxford Street, Woollahra Public School sits to the north, Emanuel School and Moriah College are south and east, Waverley College further along Birrell Street. Sydney Boys High and Sydney Girls High are across Moore Park, close enough that selective testing turns into a real conversation by Year 4. A tutor here has to know which system a child sits in.

The rhythm here is set by the park. Bikes go round and round Grand Drive before school, horses come and go from the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre, and softball runs on the Robertson Road fields. Saturdays are cricket, rugby or football at Queens Park and on the Centennial Park fields. There is no station in the suburb, so the run is to Bondi Junction or a bus along Oxford Street. By winter, homework starts after dark.

Most of the housing sits in a thin ring: Martin Road and Robertson Road with their Federation houses, Lang Road along the park edge, and Cook Road with its Art Deco and 1960s flats.

How lessons work

Three ways to learn in Centennial Park.

The park takes up most of the suburb, so getting anywhere means going around it rather than through, and our tutors build that into the run. Lessons happen where your child already works, a Federation house on Martin Road or Robertson Road, or a flat on Cook Road. There is no station in the suburb, so a tutor at the door saves a bus along Oxford Street.

In your home

Your tutor comes to you, so there is no drive and no parking, and your child works in the space they already study in. It suits primary students and busy weeknights particularly well.

With the park in the middle and no station nearby, having the tutor drive to you saves the trip entirely.

At our Double Bay centre

A quiet, purpose built room away from the distractions of home. Senior students and exam blocks tend to work best here, and parents often use the time for the school run.

Online

Live one on one over video with a shared workspace, so the tutor and student write on the same page. Ideal for sport seasons, travel weeks, and the day someone wakes up unwell.

Common questions

Centennial Park parents often ask

Yes. Both schools are a few minutes from Centennial Park, so selective preparation comes up often here. We work through reading, mathematical reasoning, thinking skills and the writing task, and we are honest with parents about where a child currently sits. We also keep normal schoolwork going alongside it, because a child who falls behind in class while preparing for a test has not really gained anything. The same applies to scholarship testing for the independent schools nearby.

Three ways. A tutor comes to your home, which for most Centennial Park families means Lang Road, Martin Road, Robertson Road or Cook Road. Lessons run online over video with a shared whiteboard, which suits older students and late finishes. Or you come to the Double Bay study centre at Level 2, Shop 10 and 11, 401 New South Head Road, about three kilometres and eight minutes off peak. Plenty of families mix the three across a term.

Usually yes, and that is the better answer anyway. Every session belongs to one child, so we never fold two students into the same hour, and a tutor who is excellent with a Year 3 reader is rarely the right person for a Year 10 accelerated maths class. What we can do is run the two lessons back to back on the same afternoon, so it costs you one evening rather than two.

Tell us your child's year and school, and we will match a Centennial Park tutor to them this week.

There is no contract and no joining fee, and we will come back to you within 24 hours with a matched tutor.
