One-on-One Tutoring in Maroubra

A child at Lycée Condorcet is working towards the IB Diploma on a school year that starts in August, while a South Sydney High student is heading for the HSC. Maroubra needs tutoring that knows the difference. We come to your table, teach online, or see students in Double Bay, Kindergarten to Year 12.

Tutoring in Maroubra

Built around your child, not a worksheet pack.

Maroubra fits a lot of schools into one suburb, and they pull in very different directions. A child at Lycée Condorcet on Anzac Parade is working towards the French Baccalauréat or the IB Diploma in English, on a school year that starts in August. A child at South Sydney High on O'Sullivan Avenue or St Spyridon College is on the NSW syllabus, heading for the HSC. Generic tutoring does not fit either one, so parents ring us.

Weekends here run on sport and surf. Nippers at Maroubra and South Maroubra surf clubs on Sunday mornings, the Maroubra Lions on the fields at Snape Park, cricket, netball and football spread across Heffron Park off Bunnerong Road. Weekdays run on buses, because Maroubra has no station and the light rail only starts up at Kingsford. By the time a Year 9 student is home, fed and off the 396, it is well past seven.

We know the run from Marine Parade past the steps down to Mahon Pool, up McKeon Street to the cafes, and inland along Fitzgerald Avenue towards Maroubra Junction.

How lessons work

Three ways to learn in Maroubra.

Maroubra has no station and the light rail only starts up at Kingsford, so a tutor coming to you saves the whole trip. Most sessions run at the family's kitchen table. It helps most down the beach end, on Marine Parade and the streets behind Arthur Byrne Reserve, where every activity already means another drive and a hunt for a park near Pacific Square.

In your home

Your tutor comes to you, so there is no drive and no parking, and your child works in the space they already study in. It suits primary students and busy weeknights particularly well.

In a suburb with no train station, the tutor doing the travelling is the simplest fix.

A quiet, purpose built room away from the distractions of home. Senior students and exam blocks tend to work best here, and parents often use the time for the school run.

Online

Live one on one over video with a shared workspace, so the tutor and student write on the same page. Ideal for sport seasons, travel weeks, and the day someone wakes up unwell.

Common questions

Maroubra parents often ask

Yes. We teach the full IB Diploma, and Lycée Condorcet on Anzac Parade is the reason we hear about it most in Maroubra. From Year 11 its students choose between the French Baccalauréat and the IB in English, and the school runs a northern hemisphere calendar starting in August. That means assessment deadlines land at odd times against the NSW year. We match a tutor to the subject and the actual timetable, not the NSW one.

That is normally the whole scheduling problem in Maroubra. Nippers runs Sunday mornings at both surf clubs through spring and summer, the Maroubra Lions are down at Snape Park, and half the suburb has something on at Heffron Park. We book a fixed weekly slot that sits outside all of it, usually a weeknight. If something clashes, our cancellation policy is nine hours, so you are not paying for a session your child could not attend.

Yes. The hour is still one tutor and one student, with a shared screen in place of a shared table, and the writing happens on both sides so nobody is only watching. Maroubra has no station and the light rail stops short at Kingsford, so plenty of families here keep an online slot for the weeks that fall apart and stay at the kitchen table the rest of the term.

Tell us your child's school and year, and we will match a Maroubra tutor this week.

There is no contract and no joining fee, and we will come back to you within 24 hours with a matched tutor.
